Our ‘Le Champagne du Marais’ is a nice one-bedroom Right Bank apartment superbly situated in the heart of Paris’ charming Marais District. This quiet apartment, inset 3 buildings back from the street, thus removed from noise & traffic, overlooks the building’s inner courtyard. This modest apartment offers a peaceful ambience while in the midst of a lively & bustling neighborhood full of cafés, restaurants, wine bars and specialty food shops of the highest quality including patisserie, boulangerie, butcher, fish market, cheese shop and small markets selling fresh fruits and vegetables. This apartment is a comfortable 430 sq ft in size and is on the 1st floor French (up one flight of stairs) in a non-elevator building.
The apartment has traditional wooden parquet floors in the living room and bedroom with practical tiled flooring in the kitchen and bathroom. There are large windows in the living room and bedroom, a good size window in the kitchen and even a small window in the bathroom. The living room is nicely furnished with a brown leather sofa and coffee table in front of the sofa (neither shown on our website yet), end tables and a built-in bookcase. The sofa opens up becoming a double sleep-sofa. There is a table & chairs (used for dining or as a desk), a flat screen TV with Cable (including some English speaking channels), a French DVD player and an iPod docking station /stereo unit. The apartment has WiFi hi-speed internet. The living room windows over look the back of Paris’ Jewish Museum.
The apartment’s pleasant kitchen is well equipped with a refrigerator, two-burner stove top, microwave oven, dishwasher, electric tea kettle and Nespresso machine. The efficient kitchen is outfitted with nice dishware, cookware, glasses, etc. The kitchen also has a clothes washing machine w/ a drying rack à la Parisienne style!
The restful bedroom, with its beautiful chandelier, has a queen size bed and a huge closet with built-in shelves and ample hanging space. The window overlooking the courtyard offers fresh air without the din of traffic noise. The bathroom, with its own cool chandelier, has a popular American-style stall shower, toilet, wash basin & mirror and a hair dryer.
This apartment is the perfect “pied-à-terre” location for visiting Paris. Located in the heart of the historic Marais district, narrow medieval streets and ancient houses rub shoulders with splendid 17th and 18th C ‘Hotels Particuliers’ and remind us of those grand private mansions of bygone days. Today many have become museums and the Musée Picasso and the Musée Carnavalet – the Museum of the History of Paris – are just a few blocks away. The streets of the Marais are full of wonderful old buildings, secret courtyards and other architectural beauties which is why the neighborhood is a favorite of both Parisians and tourists. Art galleries, fashion boutiques and high design home shops abound, making the area a popular Parisian destination for Sunday promenades! Guests are within an easy 10 minute walk to the banks of the Seine (Notre Dame Cathédral, Saint Chapelle, the Conciergerie) and for trips further afield the rue Rambuteau METRO stop is just around the corner.
