‘La Niche Cachee’ has been searched, purchased and created with calm, tranquility, privacy, space, relaxation and “location, location, location” in mind! The ideal holiday retreat where one or two people can enjoy the art and culture, the geography, architecture, history and gourmet delights which abound throughout the town and the local region.
In the heart of the Vaucluse region of Provence, the medieval village of L’Isle sur la Sorgue, with its gentle sophistication and extraordinary character, is where the quiet country life and the buzz of daily village activity are in perfect harmony. Situated on the island in the centre of L’Isle sur la Sorgue, ‘La Niche Cachee’ has been very recently totally restored and decorated with creature comforts upper most in mind.
Resting quietly in a small back street you’ll enter the building through a carved wooden door and immediately appreciate the warmth of the centuries old, curved stone staircase which takes you to the first floor and ‘La Niche Cachee’. Three picture windows bring in light and views (but no bugs...they’re screened!) and with no building opposite there are no neighbours to wave to across the way! Best of all, two doors down you’ll delight in ambling off to one of L’Isle sur la Sorgues best restaurants, ‘La Prevote’, a must to visit....whether it be dining in their delightful courtyard under the shade of the olive trees, or inside where the river flows through!
‘La Niche Cachee’ is an open, loft-style apartment with a separate bedroom housing two 90cm twin beds which can be made up as one 180cm king sized bed. The shower room houses a shower, hand basin, w.c., hair dryer, heated towel rails and washing machine, drying rack, iron and ironing board. Kitchen facilities are plentiful with a microwave, oven/grill, 4 burner cook-top, dishwasher, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and more than sufficient utensils, crockery and cutlery should you feel ‘creative’** and decide to eat-in.
**(The Sunday market throughout the town is a delight and not to be missed; Thursday’s farmers’ market fantastic for supplies; and throughout the year the evening farmers’ market in the neighbouring village of Velleron, just 5 minutes drive away, is superb for the freshest of fresh produce....and a fun evening out!)
With a dining table and chairs you can relax comfortably sipping your morning coffee, munching the steaming croissants from the bakery around the corner or enjoy a crisp lunchtime salad created from the fresh market produce and if one of the many and varied restaurants in the village hasn’t drawn you in for dinner...relax ‘at home’..... there is space and comfort for all. With telephone, local television channels and WiFi internet access you’re linked to the outside world if needs be....though I’m not sure that’s the dictionary’s definition of “holiday”! The furnishings have been lovingly (and with great glee!) collected from antique and flea markets, combined with the comfort of warm wood and squishy cushioned sofa and chair, topped with an eclectic art collection and....I present you with ‘La Niche Cachee’.
Air-conditioning for summer, heating for winter, the ideal hideaway for short or long vacations.
Should there be 4 people travelling together but happy to have a little space and privacy, then the ‘twin’ apartment I’ve called ‘The Loft’ is one floor above with the same facilities and same pricing.
* Rented weekly from Saturday 12noon to 10am the following Saturday *
For anyone staying two weeks or more, there is a weekly clean and linen change (Saturdays) included in the rates.
