This apartment is located in an 18th century building on the very chic and posh Ile St Louis. Many famous people have lived in these stately mansions throughout the years, including the duc of Richelieu, Voltaire, Madame Curie, Charles Baudelaire, and many present day movie actors and actresses. The island is an oasis of tree shaded walks along the Seine, courtyards, restaurants, cafes, boutiques and antique shops. This is a neighborhood whose inhabitants have fiercely protected their caché. You can be like the residents here who tell people they are not just in Paris, but on the " ile" or " Ile St Louis".

This 1 bedroom apartment is located on the first floor French (up 1 flight of stairs). Upon entering the building, one senses the history within the hallway's stone walls and wooden beams. Upon entering the apartment, you are standing in an area which serves as the bedroom; as the main living area is located just beyond the bedroom. The sleeping area is divided from the entry area by a beautiful, long red and beige curtain. You proceed through this room into the main area.

The main area is comprised of an open, warm, bright and intimate area which makes up the living room and dining areas. As you see from the photos this area has lots of charm with its antique furnishings and the lovely planter terrace that is behind the main area. The living room has a long linen tweed sofa that along the entire back wall. There is a small dining table that can seat 4 persons. The armoire contains the stereo and television. The large leather cushion is topped with a silver hammered tray that serves as your coffee table or doubles as extra seating. There is a large oriental carpet that covers most of the beige ceramic tiled floor.

Directly off the main area is a small terrace, with a table for two, where you can sit and have your morning coffee and croissants or evening cocktails. The terrace is planted with azaleas and ivy covers the walls. There is even an automatic sprinkler which takes care of watering the planted area.

Immediately off the living room is the kitchen. It features new cabinets, electric stove and full sized traditional oven, a combination washing machine/dryer, and a dishwasher. There is also a refrigerator to complete the kitchen appliances. The kitchen has plenty of work space and features a new granite counter top with a stainless steel round sink with fitted cutting board. You will be able to prepare simple meals to gourmet dinners and entertain as much as you like.

The bedroom area is a large open room with wood beams. It has a large double bed and nightstands. There is a nice pine armoire with a small leather chair. The bedroom is wonderfully decorated with its impressive dressed bed and divider curtain. The flooring is the same large beige ceramic tile with several oriental carpets covering most of the floor area.

The marble bathroom is just off the bedroom. It has a round shower stall and toilet. There is a large vanity mirror with sink and cabinets. The bathroom also has a an electric heater that also serves to heat/dry your damp towels.

You'll be sure to call this home as soon as you enter. The apartment is warm, inviting and very functional. All the amenities of a modern apartment in an Old World setting on the Ile St Louis.
