YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD: The appropriately named rue Française is one of a maze of small streets in the vicinity of the famous food shopping street of Rue Montorgeuil. The quaintly named Rue Tiquetonne is adjacent to the apartment and this narrow street retains its original 16th century character as no vehicles are allowed in the area. At night, especially, it is like a quiet medieval village street but crammed with exotic restaurants (French, Thai, Mexican and Arabic). Only 100 yards away is Rue Montorgeuil - a thriving gourmet food paradise where there is a choice of 5 boulangeries, 4 cheese shops, 3 fishmongers and a host of other tempting speciality boutiques - as well as a variety of supermarkets for more mundane items.
