This very light and well maintained apartment is situated on the fifth floor of a pretty and well kept 19th century building on the boulevard Beaumarchais where the Marais becomes the 11th (Bastille) arrondissement. A well known bakery (La boulangerie du Marais) , food shops, etc. are all in the vicinity and well located, with a metro and bus stop in front, one is 5 minutes walk from the Bastille area with its café’s, restaurants, 4 cinema’s, the New Opera House and access to the important metro and bus lines ( if you don’t prefer the taxi stand in front of Café Bastille). So one can enjoy this neighborhood, which was famous in the 18th and 19th century for its furniture makers, but which has developed since the late 90-ties in a hip and relaxed environment for French creative souls, with their café’s, restaurants, boutiques, workshops and lofts. Twice a week a large market takes place on the Boulevard Richard Lenoir, just behind the building, where one can find all one needs for a festive French meal.

But one can also get acquainted with the intimacy of the Marais, the old and romantic aristocratic quarter of Paris, with its splendid ‘hotel particuliers’ (city mansions), decorated with intricate sculpted details and elegant wrought iron balconies. One can wonder around, visiting the many museums or sophisticated boutiques, glance into a courtyard and sip a glass of wine on a terrace. Or just relax and read a paper under a tree in the quiet garden of one of Paris most beautiful squares, the Place des Vosges, 5 minutes walk from the apartment, and have lunch in one of the restaurants under 17th century arcades which line the square.

The charming apartment is on the fifth floor of an elegant building with a neo-renaissance façade that has been recently restored and a digital code gives entrance to the light hall; stairs or the elevator take you up to the front door of the apartment. Recently renovated, it is bright with southern light streaming into the living spaces. The furnishings are light, cozy and comfortable, with partly family heirlooms and warm colors, simple white washed walls, so an ideal environment to relax after a long day visit of Paris. The 19th century marble fire places and warm tone of the original oak parquet give it this typically Parisian tone. From the balcony, that runs all along the façade, one has a wonderful view of the elegant Boulevard Beaumarchais and the memorial column on Place Bastille.

The entrance hall leads into a charming salon furnished with antiques, where there is a double sleep sofa. From here you come into the dining room, where the dining table can seat 6 and where a cozy day bed in the corner can sleep 1 person if needed. The small, but pleasant bedroom has a queen size bed and library. The bathroom has a shower, washbasin and mirror. The toilet is located in a separate room (WC) with an extra wash basin. The kitchen is simple but efficient with a refrigerator, electric stove and oven, microwave oven and washing machine. There is Cable television and Hi Speed internet connection. Linen and towels are provided.
